Taste Kuleana Sunflower Oil in Maui Brewing Co.'s Tuna Confit Tostada at Maui Brewers Fest

Something special is happening at this year's Maui Brewers Festival — and it starts with a bottle of Kuleana Hawaiʻi Grown Sunflower Oil.

On Saturday, May 16th, join us at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului for one of Maui's most beloved annual celebrations. This year, the festival marks Maui Brewing Co.'s 21st anniversary — and they're celebrating in delicious style.

Kuleana Sunflower Oil Takes the Stage

Executive Chef Eric Morrissette and his culinary team from Maui Brewing Co. Kīhei are bringing an exclusive, festival-only dish to the food booth — and Kuleana Sunflower Oil is the star of the plate.

Tuna Confit Tostadas

A creative play on the classic tuna melt — island style.

Chef Morrissette slow-confits fresh ahi tuna in Kuleana Hawaiʻi Grown Sunflower Oil, allowing the oil's mild, nutty character to gently infuse into the fish as it cooks low and slow. The result is silky, richly flavored tuna that gets layered with:

  • Melted cheese
  • Green onion
  • Pickles
  • Gochujang aioli
  • Garlic

All of it served atop a crispy tostada shell, finished with a fresh crown of microgreens.

It's the kind of dish that's born from a chef who understands what a quality expeller-pressed oil can actually do — not just as a cooking medium, but as a flavor carrier that elevates every ingredient it touches.

Why Sunflower Oil for Confit?

Confit is a technique that requires a clean, stable oil with a high smoke point — one that won't overpower the delicate flavor of fresh ahi. Kuleana Hawaiʻi Grown Sunflower Oil fits that perfectly.

Expeller-pressed from sunflowers grown in Hawaiʻi, our sunflower oil brings a light nuttiness, exceptional clarity, and the kind of purity you only get from single-origin, small-batch production. It's the same oil in your kitchen — doing exactly what great oil is meant to do.

Celebrate 21 Years — and Save 21%

Maui Brewing Co. turns 21 this year, and they're passing the celebration on to you.

Visit the Maui Brewing Co. food booth at the festival, try Chef Morrissette's Tuna Confit Tostadas, and pick up a "Mahalo" card good for 21% off your next bottle of Kuleana Hawaiʻi Grown Sunflower Oil at KuleanaHawaiiOils.com.

It's our way of saying: taste it at the festival, then bring it home to your kitchen.
